Marshall Table Ready owner and operator Phillip DeBolt has been passionate about board games since he was a child. He has now turned that passion into a business, hoping to bring entertaining dining to any gathering in the form of board games.
“We want to bring the fun of tabletop gaming to everyone and provide teachers with games they haven’t played before,” DeBolt said. “It’s something everyone has heard of but no one seems to really understand.”
The company now serves any party or office gathering in the form of offering a variety of tabletop games to play, seasoned game masters for more complex games, and even events to run role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons .
According to DeBolt, the idea behind the business is to bring people together through tabletop games and expose them to the ever-evolving world of board games.
In fact, over the past 20 years, the world of tabletop games, including card games as well as various role-playing games and traditional board games, has grown widely across the globe.
A slew of new games have been launched in European countries recently, according to DeBolt, who added that with the boom in new titles, the tabletop gaming hobby is also gaining popularity.
This growth has led to a wide variety of new games on the market, and board games now offer more enjoyment for everyone than ever before.
“There’s a big board game community, but you’re either in it or you’re not,” he said. “I want everyone to be able to experience this kind of gaming fun with everyone else.”
DeBolt hopes to bring this new hobby to Marshall with Table Ready, with the ultimate goal of opening and running a gaming cafe offering a variety of table games in a family friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
“I really want it to be a place where people can come and work on their laptops, or bring their friends to play games, or make new friends by showing up and starting games on their own,” DeBolt said. “I really believe in gaming. Bringing the community together.”
DeBolt and Table Ready have debuted at Marshall, most recently at the Fireant Festival in the city center, as well as some community markets.
The company also partners with local groups and businesses interested in hosting regular community game nights.
