Taylor Kinney is exiting his hit NBC show “Chicago Fire.”
This 41 year old actorA source close to the show told Fox News Digital that he has been on the show for more than a decade and is “taking time off to attend to personal matters.”
Deadline reported that the cast and crew were notified of Kinney’s departure on Friday. The show, currently in its 11th season, may need a script rewrite to account for the cast’s furlough.

Representatives for The Great Chicago Fire declined to comment. A representative for Kinney did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Kinney has played Lt. Kelly Severide, a Chicago firefighter, since the show premiered in October 2012. The Vampire Diaries alum has also appeared in all other series in Wolf Entertainment’s “One Chicago” series, including “Chicago PD,” “Chicago Med,” and “Chicago Justice.”
While Kinney’s character was previously known as a “female man,” he married fellow firefighter Lieutenant Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) in the season 10 finale last May.The series premiered its 11th winter season on Jan. 4, but show Program suspended until February 8th.

A source close to the production told Fox News Digital that Kinney is “on leave to attend to personal matters.”

Last week, Kinney reflected on his first audition “Chicago Fire” In an interview with NBC.
“I audition a lot, so I’m good at it,” he said. “I don’t remember ever having any anxiety. I was excited about it, and then you just leave it to the people in power,”
“It’s all going well, and 10 years later, I’m still here harassing you on TV while you’re folding your laundry,” joked the Pennsylvania native.
“Chicago Fire” airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
