The Emirates team, which includes two-time Tour de France winner Tadej Pogačar and British team co-leader Adam Yates (who has worn the yellow jersey for four consecutive days this year), will It has been confirmed to road.cc that they do not have any partnership agreement with Netflix for the second season of Tour de France: Unchained.

The absence of the team was considered by many cycling fans to be a major missing factor in the show’s first season, which was released a month ago, with leading yellow jersey contender Tadej Pogačar competing with Jumbo Visma’s Jonas • Jonas Vingegaard was barely featured in the game.

However, earlier this week, ahead of the fifth stage, Emirates sporting director Andrej Hauptman confirmed the team had started a deal with Netflix for the next season, but reports emerged a day later that they Withdrew from the competition.

Now, Team Emirates has told road.cc that they do not have any agreement or contract with the US streaming giant.

“We have no written agreement with them. We treat them like any other media outlet: they make interview requests and we choose to accept them or not,” the team said.

Of the 22 teams that participated, only eight teams partnered with Netflix for the first season. However, Emirates’ exclusion from the show was a major flaw as the top spot on the podium was contested by Pogačar and Vingegaard.

With the latter team running throughout the game, this left a huge hole in the show’s storytelling – from highlighting Pogaca’s two previous victories, to a crucial moment in the 18th stage when the Slovenian trailed Wen Gegard had over two minutes and struggled to stay on Wiegchard’s wheel. While descending in the Pyrenees, then crashed, only Wengergaard was ahead of him.

When Pogaca caught up to Wengergaard, the two put aside their rivalry and shook hands in a display of great sportsmanship and mutual respect.

The UAE’s withdrawal from the competition means that the gap will remain for next season, as it will soon be Pogacha vs. Wiggard’s Tour match again.

In fact, everything went wrong for Emirates the day they decided to get involved with the Netflix shoot.wengard put in Colonel du Marie Blanc’s dramatic conversion and abandonment of Pogacha53 seconds ahead of Pogacha.

The then race leader and UAE co-leader Adam Yates also failed to keep pace with the break ahead, losing the yellow jersey to Australian Jai Hindley.

According to reports, Arab refused to be interviewed by anyone after the game and locked himself in the team’s van.

The next day, the team also decided to stop working with Netflix.

However, like professional cycling, fortunes can change quickly and on stage six, that changed. Baker who dropped Vingegaard Just before Cotterey’s summit, he moved up to second place behind Vingegaard with a lead of nearly 30 seconds in the final 2km.

But if the UAE’s fortunes turn around, will they decide to start “taking Netflix interview requests”? Who knows, but as it stands, it seems increasingly difficult for fans to get excited about seeing the likes of Pogazza and Yates (or Trentin and Björn throwing a tantrum during a game) next season.
