Team Emirates rider Almeida cements final Giro d’Italia podium

[ad_1]

Stage 20 of the Giro d’Italia saw riders take on a challenging time trial from Tarvisio to Monte Lussari (18.6km) in an exciting display of individual strength and determination. The stage promises to be a true test of strength and strategy as riders battle the clock and the unforgiving terrain.

Already showing off his prodigious climbing skills in the Giro d’Italia, Emirates rider João Almeida was eager to prove his prowess and finished third with a time of 45:05.

With concentrated intensity, Almeida set a terrific pace with momentum in the first few kilometers. As the stage wore on, it became clear that Almeida was building on the good early performances of Jay Vine and later Brandon McNulty who finished 10th and 7th on the day respectively.

third place

After crossing the finish line, Almeida’s face was full of exhaustion and satisfaction. He gave it his all in the time trial and got nothing on the road. As he catches his breath, his realization of his extraordinary accomplishment gradually emerges. Almeida consolidated his place among the Giro d’Italia’s elite with an impressive third on the stage won by Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma).

With just one stage left in the Giro d’Italia, Almeida’s podium on stage 20 almost guaranteed him a podium in Rome tomorrow and a win in the junior category.

Almeida: “I feel good, especially at the end. I’m happy with my effort and the result. The other two were stronger and Primoz should have won the race, so congratulations to him. As a driver I improve every year, So I’m very happy with my Giro and the way things are going.”
