TEDxAlQuoz will launch its first event with the theme of “Humanity and Interdependence”, encouraging people to reflect on how to cultivate a spirit rooted in modern society through a series of fascinating lectures, artistic performances and exchange opportunities. The event will be held at Warehouse Four in Dubai’s Al Quoz district from 4pm to 8pm; tickets will be on sale on the event website in the first week of October.
The independently produced event is operated under the permission of TED, organized by volunteers, and aims to create a forum that stimulates and inspires dialogue between the Dubai community through thought-provoking conversations. The event was produced with the support of the venue partner Warehouse Four and the cultural partner Dubai Culture and Arts Bureau.
Some of the speakers can be expected to be seen on stage, including athlete and Guinness World Record holder Dareen Barbar, award-winning photographer Waleed Shah, survival skills guide Arnaud Laviolette, sustainable fashion influencer Amanda Rushforth and famous psychologist Saliha Afridi PhD. Many artists, including UAE singer Arqam, also plan to perform at this event.
Commenting on the theme of the event, organizer and curator Rihane Hassaine said: “TEDxAlQuoz aims to re-explore the meaning of interdependence within society and encourage reflection on how we can cultivate a spirit that is rooted in modern society and contributes to society. Changes occur locally, regionally and globally.”
TedxAlQuoz will showcase another platform to further attract, support and retain talent in the region and ensure that everyone in the Emirate of Dubai has access to culture. This is in line with the strategy of Dubai Culture, which aims to strengthen its position as a comprehensive vitality center for creative people from all over the world and position Dubai as the preferred destination for all art and culture lovers, as well as a cultural center for creativity and Cultural dialogue.
