The 10th MeetChina returns to Abu Dhabi

[ad_1]

  • With China’s reopening momentum and global destinations eager to return Chinese tourists, MeetChina provides suppliers and buyers with the ideal platform to rebuild their businesses in the UAE

Abu Dhabi: MeetChina, the business forum for Chinese travel buyers and MENA travel suppliers, returns to Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island for the first time since the pandemic. The event will take place on September 4, 2023 at the Hilton Hotel in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, an intensive two-day conference aimed at rebuilding tourism links between China and the region.

MeetChina is owned and operated by NPI Media and is supported by the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT – Abu Dhabi) and Yas Island as Destination Partner. Now in its 10th year, 2023 will welcome as many as 100 of China’s top premium travel buyers.

MeetChina is playing an integral role in the recovery of the Chinese outbound tourism market, guaranteeing tourism stakeholders from across the UAE the opportunity to secure business from China through two days of pre-arranged one-on-one meetings and networking sessions. Event registration is open to government tourism organisations, hotels, destination management companies (DMCs), attractions, excursion providers, shopping centers and luxury retail brands.

In 2019, Chinese outbound tourism contributed more than US$253 billion to the global economy, the most of any country. Chinese tourists travel more than 150 million times a year, becoming an important contributor to the international tourism market.

Earlier this year, the country eased all restrictions, allowing outbound tourism activity to resume. According to the China Outbound Tourism Research Institute (COTRI), Chinese tourists are expected to make about 110 million international trips in 2023, two-thirds of 2019 levels, and 155 million Chinese outbound tourists in 2024.

China has consistently been among the top five source markets for the UAE over the past decade, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi attracting the majority of visitors. Despite the restrictions, Dubai will welcome 177,000 tourists from China in 2022, a 131% increase from 2021, according to Dubai Economy and Tourism Department. However, these levels are down 82% from 2019 due to China’s pandemic-related travel policies. With restrictions now easing and airlines increasing the number of international flights, the UAE anticipates an influx of Chinese tourists and is poised to meet this demand with its diverse tourism offerings, helping the country go beyond regional and global tourism industry recovery barometer.

Rob Nicholas, Managing Director of NPI Media, commented ahead of this year’s event: “As the Chinese outbound travel market recovers in the post-pandemic world, MeetChina 2023 is our most important event yet as suppliers and buyers connect to rebuild commerce. .MeetChina’s successful track record and strategic partnerships with Hala China and UShine have generated significant interest from key Chinese travel buyers and tourism stakeholders in the UAE.”

Liam Findlay, CEO of Miral Destinations, said: “We are delighted to have MeetChina as the destination partner of choice for Chinese tourists in the MENA region. Our partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT – Abu Dhabi) “plays an integral role in our relationship with the Chinese market, which remains our main source market. Similarly, Yas Island is also a hotspot for Chinese tourists, and we are happy to provide tourists with a variety of leisure activities to suit their preferences. Entertainment experience. As summer approaches, we look forward to providing Chinese travelers with the unforgettable family-friendly products and world-class experiences they have grown to love.”

In addition to the tight meeting schedule, Chinese buyers will also participate in familiar excursions. The newly opened Yas Island SeaWorld Abu Dhabi – the region’s first marine life theme park – will host a welcome dinner for delegates on the opening night of MeetChina. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit The Galleria Al Maryah Island in Abu Dhabi. At this brand new immersive entertainment venue in Dubai, AYA will host Chinese buyers for a special viewing.
