The Dubai Sports Commission (DSC) announced that many of the world’s leading sports stars will participate in Expo 2020 Dubai to promote their country on the global stage and participate in numerous sports events to be held in the next six months.

The Dubai Sports Commission also confirmed that the award ceremony of the famous Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award will also be held on January 9, 2022 at the 2020 World Expo.

As the global initiative of Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the MBR Creative Sports Awards is one of the world’s leading initiatives in terms of categories and bonuses. At the 11th awards ceremony, UAE and Arab heroes from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics will be commended at the sparkling awards ceremony.

Expo 2020 will also host many other events, including the 2021 FIDE World Chess Championship, where defending world champion Magnus Carlson will meet challenger Ian Nee from November 24 to December 16. The Football Legends Tournament provided by the Nigeria Pavilion will give fans the opportunity to meet players such as Jay Jay Okocha, Nvankovo ​​Kanu and Mikel John Obi, as well as two world unified heavyweights Boxing champion Anthony Joshua of England.

The Senegal Pavilion will host an event to promote the 2026 Dakar Summer Youth Olympic Games. This is the first time the IOC has organized an event in Africa and the first time it has been held in a Muslim-majority country.

More than 30 international competitions

Dubai will also host more than 30 international sporting events throughout the emirate during the Expo 2020, including the men’s and women’s Rugby World Cup qualifiers in October and November, the 2020 Cricket World Cup, and the European Tour’s “Dubai” final, DP World Tour Championship.

With the theme of “Communicating Thoughts and Creating the Future”, the 2020 World Expo will feature 191 national pavilions, which are expected to attract 25 million visitors, welcoming some of the greatest ideas and figures from the science, technology, economy, literature, and performing arts circles.
