Abu Dhabi: The Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in the UAE is pleased to present a set of books specially curated by the Embassy and the National Library Board of Singapore to the library of the Department of Culture and Tourism in Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi). The move is in line with efforts by both parties to further strengthen the strong cultural ties and training and educational exchanges between Abu Dhabi and Singapore.
His Excellency Kamal R Vaswani, Ambassador of Singapore to the United Arab Emirates, A gift of books to His Excellency Saood Al Hosani, Deputy Minister of DCT Abu Dhabi. With this initiative, the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore aims to expand cultural exchanges with the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The collection includes a wide range of books and publications introducing the Republic of Singapore to Emirati readers, covering topics such as governance, economic development, foreign policy and history. Showcasing the softer side of Singapore, there are other collections on photography, design and architecture, as well as books on Singaporean cuisine, an important part of Singapore’s multicultural identity.
Your Excellency Ambassador Vaswani, Explaining that the gift is “another weave in the larger people-to-people relationship between the two countries”. Ambassador Vaswani emphasized that Singapore looks forward to strengthening exchanges with the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Culture, which is doing great work to improve the cultural landscape. Ambassador Vaswani added: “Going forward, we want to strengthen the personal bonds among youth. To this end, we have included some children’s books to spark interest in Singapore. I look forward to these books being placed in the wonderful Abu Dhabi Libraries. This gift also supports Abu Dhabi’s ongoing efforts to promote a culture of reading and continuous learning.”
Shaikha Al Muhairi, Director of Library Management, DCT Abu Dhabi, Kudos to this cultural initiative, which is a testament to the integration and cooperation of civilizations. “At DCT Abu Dhabi, we are passionate about working with cultural institutions around the world in ways that promote Abu Dhabi’s message of civilization and reflect the diversity and vibrancy of its cultural scene,” she said.
