The Great American Beer Festival returns to Denver Arts & Entertainment in October

[ad_1]

Colorado beer lovers rejoice. After a two-year drought, the Great American Beer Festival returns to Denver in October.

40,000 beer lovers are expected to flock to the Colorado Convention Center again from October 6-8 to sample 1-ounce samples of 1,500 beers from more than 500 brewers.

Tickets for the general public – 21+, of course – go on sale on Wednesday at 8am on the festival’s website, Greatamericanbeerfestival.com. Pre-sale tickets for members of the Home Brewers Association of America and the Boulder-based Brewers Association will be available Tuesday (you must join by June 28 to get pre-sale).

“After two years of disruption caused by the pandemic, we are delighted to be returning to Denver in person this October,” Ann Obenchain, director of marketing and communications for the Brewers Association, said via email. “This marks the 40th anniversary of the Great American Beer Festival. , so beer lovers can look forward to some fun celebrations that blend into the GABF events people have loved for the past 40 years. We expect demand to be high.”

The festival has been an economic boon for downtown Denver, as brewery representatives from all over the country trek.

“Beer is synonymous with the Denver brand, and our city has a longstanding relationship with the Brewers Association and GABF for nearly 40 years,” Visit Denver President and CEO Richard Scharf said in a release. “We are optimistic that Denver will welcome the largest celebration of beer in the country in its truest form… which will fill thousands of hotel rooms with brewing professionals from across the industry.”

For the past two years, the Brewers Association has still hosted the competition portion of the festival, but not a live extravaganza at the convention center. The trade group represents small and independent U.S. craft brewers.

The 2022 GABF features “educational and interactive workshops on beer appreciation,” entertainment including games and live music, and souvenir wine glasses.

The popular food pairing event PAIRED is also returning this year, with 25 chef-inspired dishes paired with 25 beers that aren’t offered at a typical meeting. For the first time, PAIRED ticket holders do not need to purchase the $95 regular ticket.

The first festival in 1982 had only 24 breweries displaying samples of 47 beers, according to the association.
