How has your professional experience benefitted your business?
As I have over 20 years in the real estate and interior design sector, I know what clients expect when they talk about high-end design. They want to build their new homes glamorous and colorful and to express their lifestyle also at home. Furthermore, they love fancy designs and special materials for walls, floors, and also furniture. They like something special, often made to measure – unique pieces that become art and express their lifestyle.
What is it about Dubai that appeals to you?
10 years ago, I fell in love with Dubai. Dubai is an open-minded and fast-growing place with everything golden & shiny. People love to wear colorful clothes and show what they have. The shinier – the better. Extravagant design, great architecture, luxury homes, luxury cars, luxury jewelry, and amazing restaurants – everything sparkles – a little bit kitschy, I know – but for me, it’s the best place to get inspired. I moved to Dubai 6 months ago, and it was the best decision in my whole life – now I can be 100 % myself – the colorful person I always had to hide in Europe.
How would you describe your aesthetic?
I am a very colorful and creative person. I am keen on exquisite, extravagant, and unique design pieces. However, fulfilling my client’s special wishes and needs is the most important thing for me. In the implementation of projects, coherence in color and shape and compliance with basic design rules are, of course, important. For me, however, a very simple rule is the most important: the client and the architect must be able to identify with the result without restriction, and the user must feel completely at ease. In return, I like to forego the vanity of my own formative style in favor of individual design according to the customer’s wishes.
What makes a material or surface stand out to you?
It must be a high-quality handcraft – for me, a matter truly dear to my heart.
It must be unique, possibly made to measure for my client’s needs because your home should tell the story of who you are and be a collection of what you love.
What has been the biggest challenge of your career?
To start with sweet 17 in the real estate sector, I already earned my license as an 18-year-old. Although they told me I was too young, I had to prove to a male-dominated field day by day that I was right there. The more attractive you are – the more gossip you have when climbing the career ladder.
Is there anything you would like to change about the design industry?
No – I wouldn’t change anything. Everyone has the right to design and produce whatever they want. There could be the impression that you can already get everything on the interior market – there comes ArchiCover into play – to filter the best things out for our clients!
Where would you like to see ArchiCover in the future?
At the moment ArchiCover has its flagship store in Vienna and is an independent company for the Arab region in Dubai. I am open to expanding in other locations – also through cooperation.
