The Recording Academy Honors Peter Paterno

The Recording Academy Entertainment Law Initiative, which will celebrate the 25th anniversary of its annual Grammy Week event next year, will present the 2023 Entertainment Law Initiative Service Award to Peter T. Paterno, a partner at King, Holmes, Paterno & Soriano, LLP. A certificate is presented to an attorney who has demonstrated a commitment to advancing and supporting the music community through service.

Paterno’s clients include: Dr. Dre, Tupac Shakur estate, Metallica, Van Morrison, Blink-182, Twenty One Pilots, Skrillex, Tyler the Creator, Q Tip, Rage Against the Machine, Alice In Chains, Linda Ronstadt, Roddy Ricch, Sia, Henry Mancini Estate, Shirley Manson, Alanis Morissette, Tori Amos and others.

“Peter’s long-term commitment to the business of music and his ability to confidently navigate the intricacies of our industry make him an outstanding recipient of the ELI Service Award at this year’s 25th anniversary event,” said Neil Crilly, Managing Director, Industry Leader Engagement and Chapter Operations at Recording Academy. “I applaud the ELI’s executive committee for recognizing a leader whose expertise has helped countless artists succeed in their careers and supports the music industry in times of change.”

Service Award recipients are determined by ELI’s Executive Committee, which recognizes leaders in the entertainment law community and works to mentor young professionals in the industry. The ELI Grammy Week event will also celebrate the winner and two runners-up of the Entertainment Law Initiative writing competition, co-sponsored by the American Bar Association, which challenges students in the American Law School’s JD and LL.M. legal issues and outline suggested solutions in a 3,000-word essay.The author of the winning paper will receive a $10,000 scholarship, the two runners-up will receive a $2,500 scholarship, and the winning paper will be published in an ABA journal Entertainment and Sports Lawyers.

The winner will also receive travel and tickets to Los Angeles to attend the 65th Annual Grammy Awards, MusiCares Personality of the Year and ELI Grammy Week events.
