(Menarfin– Iris Media Press Services) Al Ain, UAE: The Board of Trustees of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) met today under the chairmanship of HE Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Rector of the University and Cultural Advisor to His Highness the President of the UAE.
As part of its oversight responsibilities for the implementation of the UAEU’s strategy, the Board takes note of the UAEU’s 2022 KPI performance and my executive management’s progress in implementing the University’s strategy in support of national political, economic and social goals.
In conjunction with UAEU’s comprehensive action plan to accelerate the advancement of the University’s global ranking, the Board received a presentation on the current state of research activity and its associated challenges, as well as the further development of the Research Strategy as part of the University’s long-term and wider strategic planning.
The Board of Trustees received and took note of the latest developments regarding the implementation of the provisions of Cabinet Resolution No. 23/10 of 2022 – “Executive Committee for the Resolution on the Governance of Federal Higher Education Institutions”.
The Board reviewed the key actions and priority areas for improvement contained in the Board Performance Self-Assessment Report and noted actions taken to implement the report’s recommendations.
Pursuant to Cabinet Resolution No. (55) 2022 on the Governance of Federal Higher Education Institutions in the UAE, the Board of Directors approved the establishment of the Finance, Administration and Investments Committee as the third standing committee of the Board of Directors and approved the committee’s charter and membership.
The Board of Trustees received a report from the Academic and Student Affairs Committee. The Board of Trustees accepted and formally approved the committee’s recommendations: the establishment of the Human Capital Research Center, a new doctoral program in environmental engineering, and name changes to five departments in the School of Business and Economics.
His Excellency Dr. Tariq Bin Hendi, Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee, presented the Committee’s periodic reports on finance, enterprise risk management and internal audit.
The Board of Directors received and formally took note of the presentation of UAUE’s financial results for the calendar year 2022.
