‘There will be retaliation’: Iran warns Saudi Arabia that its patience is limited | World News

[ad_1]

Iran has warned its neighbors, including Saudi Arabia, that it will retaliate for destabilizing moves amid daily protests sparked by Massa Amini’s death.

Street violence erupted across Iran after Amini, 22, died on September 16 after he was arrested by morality police for allegedly flouting the Islamic Republic’s strict dress code for women.

Iran has accused enemies, including the United States and Saudi Arabia, of being behind the unrest, which it said has killed dozens of people, mostly demonstrators, but also security forces.

“I would like to say to Saudi Arabia that because we are neighbors, our destiny and that of the rest of the region are interlinked,” its intelligence minister, Esmail Khatib, said on Wednesday.

“For Iran, any instability in the countries of the region is contagious, and any instability in Iran is contagious to the countries in the region,” Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was quoted as saying by his website. “

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has so far exercised strategic patience, but if hostilities against it continue, it cannot guarantee that it will maintain this strategic patience,” the minister added.

“If the Islamic Republic decides to punish these countries, their glass palace will collapse and they will no longer enjoy stability.”

Last month, Iran accused the CIA and its counterparts in Britain, Israel and Saudi Arabia of “conspiring” against it.
