The Los Angeles Press Club announced the nominees for the 65th Annual Southern California Journalism Awards, highlighting media excellence across the region, with TheWrap taking eight nominations.
Winners will be named at an awards ceremony on June 25, 2023 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
Sharon Waxman, founder and editor-in-chief of TheWrap, was named an individual for her ongoing work Wax Word Blog series.
Journalist Sharon Knolle received two nominations. It starts with her scrutiny of the “Sex and the City” sequel series and whether the show negatively portrays middle-aged women, titled “Is “And Just Like That”…ageist? Why Carrie and her friends look dated at 50.“
She’s nominated again for a look at how women are represented in the current comedy scene:”Forget Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle — female cartoonists say stand-up comedy has “never been safe” for women.“

Finally, the critic Robert Hoeffler Individual nominated for theater/performing arts category review.
