New research shows that three in five (60%) UAE travelers find it difficult to disconnect from their daily routine while on vacation, and Hilton wants to help change that.
The feeling of not being able to “switch off” is a familiar one for many, with nearly a third of respondents saying they don’t feel like they’re officially on vacation until they actually head to their vacation destination.
31% of UAE travelers say the main reason they feel they need a vacation is to get away from feeling overworked, 46% say listening to music helps them get into vacation mode, Hilton has more than 7,000 properties worldwide, and leading The psychologist and ASMR expert Dr. Giulia Poerio teamed up to provide a solution.
“Stay Sounds” is a brand new ASMR track designed to help holidaymakers rest and relax and make the most of their stay. Hilton researched which sounds put travelers in immediate “stay” mode, and found that sounds they found relaxing and creating a vacation feel included gentle ocean waves (44%), soothing lobby music (44%) and restaurant piano music (36%) ).
These sounds inspired a unique ASMR track that also includes other auditory cues that people say instantly transport them to their favorite vacation spot, like the crunch of sand underfoot (30%), the first time you jump into The splash of water in a swimming pool (30%), the laughter of children (33%) and the soft hum of an airplane engine (33%).
Dr. Giulia Poerio, ASMR researcher advising on the track, commented, “The impact of everyday sounds on our levels of relaxation and well-being has attracted increased research interest, especially over the past few years. The “Sounds of the Stay” ASMR track is produced with scientifically proven optimal length, pitch and frequency to help people relax. The steady three-minute track features plenty of soft, slowly repeating noises—such as footsteps on crunchy sand and the wheels of a suitcase rolling across a hotel marble floor—that are ideal for helping listeners unwind.
Binaural sounds, including a friendly hotel greeting upon arrival or the closeness of rumpled hotel sheets upon climbing into bed, help the listener create a sense of direction and give the impression that they can close their eyes and be transported to where they are listening impressed.
