Thrilling adventure and eye-opening culture: why the UAE is a traveler’s paradise

[ad_1]

Abu Dhabi is home to majestic architecture, stunning beaches, traditional and cultural monuments, adventure sports and other inspiring locations off the beaten track.

This emirate not only has its traditional spirit but also contemporary culture, making it a tourist’s paradise.

Yas Waterworld, one of Yas Island’s most famous family attractions, has just been named Middle East’s Leading Waterpark 2022 at the World Travel Awards. It has more than 40 rides and attractions, six of which are unique and cannot be found anywhere else in the Middle East.

The park is divided into four thrill levels, each suitable for different ages and adrenaline junkies. It’s home to the world’s largest six-person tornado water slide. A family favorite is the 550-meter “Bandit Bomber”, the world’s only suspended water park roller coaster.

Inspired by Emirati heritage, Yas Waterworld has its own pearl diving experience. Due to the warm waters of the Gulf, the pearling industry became the foundation upon which cities such as Abu Dhabi were built.

Louvre Abu Dhabi is the first universal museum in the Arab world, an institution that places Abu Dhabi firmly on the international cultural map. It showcases art from around the world, with the ethos of fostering cultural exchange between local and international artists and communities, with a rotating permanent collection juxtaposed with contemporary and historical works.

“I think tourists come here because of the iconic masterpiece, the dome designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel,” explains Raisa Al Fahim, senior external affairs officer at Louvre Abu Dhabi. See definitely the permanent gallery. So we have a total of 23 galleries, from prehistoric to contemporary art,” he added.

It’s easy to forget that Abu Dhabi is a city in the middle of a desert. If you want to get away from it all, take a drive to the Liwa Desert, surrounded by sweeping sand dunes. Movie buffs may be familiar with this area, as it’s also been the location for several Hollywood films, including Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Dune.

Abu Dhabi Film and Television Commissioner Hans Fraikin told Euronews why it was such a unique filming location.

“You can put a camera in the middle of the Liwa Desert and you can see nothing in the background, no phone lines, no planes, no cars, no streets, nothing. So if you’re filming your Imagine an alien landscape like Arrakis in the dunes, or a planet like Star Wars.”

For those who like to be close to nature, the Liwa Desert also offers glamping experiences. Enjoy 360-degree views of the desert at Liwa Nights. This dune-side resort has ten luxury tents, each with a king-size bed, air conditioning and en suite bathrooms. You can also add in a camel ride or a dune tour during your stay, a must for any thrill seeker.

Salem Almazrouei, managing director of Liwa Nights Glamping Retreat, said: “The idea is to come and try our culture. We do it as a local experience and teach them [tourists] Who we are and where we come from. “
