Ticketmaster has apologized to Taylor Swift and her fans.
Ticket sales and distribution came under fire after the announcement of the cancellation of general sale tickets for the Taylor era tour, with one tweet saying: “Due to very high demand on the ticketing system and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet this demand, [the] Taylor Swift Public Sale | Time Tour has been cancelled”.
In a statement, Ticketmaster said: “We strive to make buying tickets as easy as possible for fans, but this is not the case for the many people who are trying to purchase tickets for Taylor Swift ‘The Eras’ tour. First, we would like to post a message to Taylor and An apology to all of her fans – especially those who had a bad experience buying tickets.”
After Taylor revealed she was “not happy” with how the sale was handled, she apologized.
In an Instagram message to fans, she wrote: “I bring a lot of elements of my career inside. I do it to improve the quality of experience for my fans, and I do it with my team, who Also caring about my fans as much as I do. I really have a hard time trusting an outside entity with these relationships and allegiances, making it painful for me to watch mistakes happen with no recourse.
“There are a number of reasons why people are having a hard time getting tickets and I’m trying to figure out how to improve the situation in the future. I’m not going to make excuses for anyone because we’ve asked them, many times, if they can handle the demand , we’re sure they can handle it. It’s amazing that 2.4 million people got tickets, but it annoys me that a lot of them felt like they had to go through several attacks to get them.”
For those who didn’t get tickets, she added: “I hope it will open up more opportunities for us to come together and sing these songs. Thank you for wanting to be there.”
Taylor’s tour will be her largest US tour to date, featuring 52 shows across the country.
