The Technology Innovation Institute (TII), a world-leading scientific research center, announces that it will hold its second “Future of Additive Manufacturing” symposium this year.
The workshop will explore cutting-edge additive manufacturing design, processes, materials, sustainable practices and industry applications.
It promises to be Abu Dhabi’s manufacturing event of the year and will be held at the W Hotel in Abu Dhabi on April 27.
Comprehensive dialogue
Additive Manufacturing the Future 2023 will bring together global additive manufacturing and 3D printing experts, industry giants and relevant stakeholders for comprehensive dialogue and expert-level exchanges on various breakthrough technologies in this field.
The seminar will highlight key challenges and opportunities facing the industry and discuss emerging trends that are shaping and empowering this nascent industry.
Additive manufacturing, also commonly referred to as 3D printing, has recently emerged as a top contender to traditional advanced manufacturing techniques in industries such as aerospace, automotive, space, biomedical, oil and gas, and tooling.
four themes
A robust workshop agenda will cover four important topics – Design for Additive Manufacturing, Materials for Additive Manufacturing and their sustainability, Manufacturing Process and Post-processing and finally Industrial Applications of Additive Manufacturing, including successful and influential Use cases, standardization, certification, IP issues related to additive manufacturing.
Dr. Nesma Aboulkhair, Director of Additive Manufacturing at the Center for Advanced Materials Research, will host the opening session on “Unlocking the Potential of Laser Powder Bed Fusion Additive Manufacturing”.
She will be joined by Josefine Lissner, CEO and founder of Leap 71 in the UAE, and Lin Kaiser, founder of Hyperganic, in a session titled “Creating the Future of Human Physics through Computational Engineering and Integrated Digital Manufacturing – or – From Code to Aerospike”.
Other prominent speakers confirmed for the workshop include Dr Wesley Cantwell, Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Khalifa University, Dr Aijun Hwang, Director of the Monash Additive Manufacturing Centre, Dr Federico Bosio and Dr Markus, Senior Research Fellows at AMRC, TII EOS Global Europe, Middle East and Glassner, Senior Vice President, Africa. Daniel France, Director of Global Sales and Business Development at BEAMIT SpA; Pawan Kumar Chandana, Co-Founder of Skyroot Aerospace; and Dr. Alberto Bordin, Head of Additive Manufacturing Technologies, ASTM Center of Excellence, will also lead dedicated sessions. Barrie Finnin, Chief Technology Officer and General Manager of AMAERO Additive Manufacturing Australia, a company working with entities in the UAE to strengthen the Additive Manufacturing sector here, will also be presenting a session on “Understanding the Cost Drivers of Metal Additive Manufacturing” s meeting.
new entrant
Commenting on expectations for the upcoming workshop, Dr Aboulkhair said: “Additive manufacturing is a relatively new entrant to the UAE’s manufacturing scene and events like this broaden our knowledge of this unique and fast-paced discipline. In addition, they help accelerate the discovery of transformative solutions that will benefit the UAE and the rest of the world.
“This workshop provides an important platform for strategic synergies in Additive Manufacturing R&D and will undoubtedly enhance TII’s credibility as a leading center of knowledge, collaboration and technical expertise in Additive Manufacturing in the UAE and beyond.”
Hend Alqaydi, Materials Science Engineer, Additive Manufacturing Team, said: “We have an excellent line-up of speakers whose extensive experience and skills will certainly add tremendous value in enabling attendees to adopt Additive Manufacturing in their business operations. In addition, Academicians can jointly explore potential new areas of research collaboration to deepen their insights into additive manufacturing, thereby strengthening TII’s leadership in developing innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.” — trade arab news agency
