Tom Cruise’s ‘Mission: Impossible’ Abu Dhabi premiere leaves fans expecting more

[ad_1]

United Arab Emirates — He’s flown helicopters; piloted an F/A-18 jet, scaled 2,000-foot cliffs and the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, and held his breath underwater for six minutes in his latest stunt, Tom Cruise raced off a cliff on his motorcycle and parachuted his way down. These are just some of the incredible stunts this Hollywood actor has pulled off.

His latest stunt comes from Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1Christopher McQuarrie’s latest introduces Hayley Atwell to the series and marks Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Familiar faces return, including Vanessa Kirby.

The film premiered Monday at the luxurious Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. Director McQuarrie was in attendance, along with Cruise, Atwell, Peggy and Pom Klementieff.

Of all the stunts Cruise has performed, we wanted to ask him which one he thought was the most exciting. But after interacting with fans on the red carpet, Cruise was rushed to the main stage and left a message for the US media: “I’ll be right back.” This sums up our interaction with Cruise on the red carpet ; however, we interviewed Atwell, McQuarrie, Page, and Klementieff for a brief interaction.

did you know?Cruise’s bike jump off cliff stunt is first filmed Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1? “It’s a huge challenge,” McQuarrie said. “Whether it’s the physics or the engineering, and the resources that went into it. That was followed by the train sequence and the look of it. So we did all the most challenging things at the beginning, thinking it would all go downhill from there . But everything is a challenge.”

Are people used to Cruise performing such daring stunts? “You never get used to it because he always pushes it further,” Peggy said. “Just when you think you can handle him hanging off the side of the plane, he jumps off a cliff on his motorcycle and you’re scared again. But he’s always been very careful about how he trains. The coordination is always there. So It’s as safe as it can be, as scary as it is.”

We asked Peggy if she would attempt such a stunt. “Well, I’m happy with where I am,” he joked. “What really surprised me about Tom was his preparation. He spent a lot of time preparing to do these things. I felt like I had other things to do. I needed to walk the dog and play video games with the kids. Tom’s Commitment Unbelievable.”

The plot of the film is exciting and full of action scenes. Klementieff is one of the most animated characters. The French actress, popular for her role as Mantis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is one of the villains in the film, where she teams up with Cruise in edgy action sequences.

She said Klementieff had been preparing for the Paris race for months, engaging in intensive training such as uphill sprints and Pilates to ensure her core and ankles were strong. She also trained in boxing, kicking, kickboxing, katana and fencing. “We tried a lot of different things, and then we narrowed it down to what was the best fit for the character and the situation,” she says.

But Klementieff never thought of giving up. “I always want to do more,” she said. “I’m not saying I’m invincible, but I like taking risks. So if you really prepare and push yourself, you can do a lot of crazy things. I’d love to do more of that.”

Series newcomer Atwell also has quite a few “crazy” things in the film. McQuarrie said they had been talking to Hayley for about 10 years. “I saw Hailey a long time ago on stage in London and had a chance to meet her,” he said. “We brought her to read other content, and she has such a unique talent and an amazing presence. We’re just looking for the right thing for her.”

The right thing comes in the form of Grace, the character she plays in the movie. “It was a relief,” Atwell said. “Finally, 10 years later we found something, and how exciting it would be in a world that they had built so well. And, they wanted me to come in and create this character with them.”

Atwell isn’t interested in playing a “single character,” whether she’s a femme fatale, an ice queen, or a victim. In a world full of impossible missions, she wanted to find a character that would offer her many different versions. “So when I saw the movie, I thought, ‘Oh, this is the version they used,’ because every shot has a different flavor or quality. Sometimes, she’s more brash, and sometimes, she’s more confident. Sometimes , she’s more compassionate, and sometimes, she’s morally questionable. So, I can say I have to play a different version of her.”

This was Atwell’s first screen appearance with Cruise, and it’s safe to say the two hit it off. “It’s a testament to the trust we have in each other,” she said. “We’re very engaged and connected (in the car chase scene) and that comes from being fully present with each other and understanding what the other is doing. So you can harness that energy Come to work and give something back in the world of the story you’re creating. It takes a lot of trust to do that.”

“From the beginning, his (Cruise’s) transparency about the process was unparalleled and made me feel very engaged and safe, meaning I was guided by a sense of confidence rather than fear. He eliminated himself quickly It’s the Tom Cruise feel. It’s just the two of us going to work,” she added.

In addition to Cruise, Kirby, who plays the White Widow in the movie, is also a very popular character at Atwell. “She really believed in me,” she said, “and I will be forever indebted to her after years of filming.”

Preparation Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part II Still a work in progress, but director McQuarrie had three words for us: more missions.
