Holland says he’s heartbroken working on his latest TV series ‘Crowded Room’

Tom Holland says he’s taking a year off from acting to take care of his mental health.

The British Spider-Man star admitted he was heartbroken after going through a “difficult time” with his latest project, Crowded Room.

Holland, 27, starred in and produced the Apple TV+ thriller series.

It sees him playing a character loosely based on “school rapist” Billy Milligan, an American man who claims to have 24 different personalities.

Milligan was the first person to be found not guilty by reason of insanity — based on dissociative identity disorder — and instead of going to jail, he spent a decade in a mental institution.

In an interview with Extra TV On Wednesday, Holland said the role allowed him to “explore certain emotions that I had absolutely never experienced before,” while off-camera responsibilities added “extra stress.”

“I’m no stranger to hard work,” he said. “I’ve always believed that hard work is good work. Then again, this show has really let me down.

“There was definitely a time when I needed a break and disappeared and went to Mexico for a week and then spent some time at the beach and kept a low profile.

“I’m taking a year off right now because of how hard the show is. I’m excited to see how it turns out. I feel like our hard work paid off.”

“Of course, it was a difficult time,” he added.

“a bit broken”

in a separate interview Partnered with Entertainment Weekly last month, The Bafta winner revealed he was “kind of broken” after not being able to close the role and wanted to shake his head off him.

“I see myself in him, but in my personal life,” he said, “I remember having a little meltdown at home and thinking, ‘I’m going to shave my head. I need to shave my head because I need to get out of this role. .

“And, obviously, we were filming, so I decided not to … it’s unlike anything I’ve been through before.”

The year before he said he was considering giving up acting, which he had been doing since he was 11, so he could “do other things”.
