Abu Dhabi Unveils Digital Platform to Transform Climate Intentions into Action

Action In commemoration of the ‘Year of Sustainability’ and the imminent COP28 hosted by the UAE, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) and du, part of the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), have introduced the ‘naha’ environmental engagement platform.

Evolution of Collaboration

Derived from ‘natural habitat,’ Naha is a personalized digital interface designed to propel sustainability, elevate environmental awareness, and encourage green practices in Abu Dhabi and beyond. The digital platform centralizes EAD’s outreach initiatives, leveraging scientific knowledge to turn climate intentions into actionable results in the UAE.

A Pledge to Sustainability

Dr. Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of EAD, expressed that the naha platform marks an evolutionary step in their partnership with du. Aligned with the ‘Year of Sustainability,’ the platform aims to break down sustainability concepts into tangible daily actions, reinforcing the commitment to environmental responsibility.

Empowering Individuals: Action

Naha offers personalized tools such as ‘my naha’ newsfeed and calendar, empowering individuals to adopt environmental lifestyle changes through increased awareness, event participation, and community engagement.

Variety of Initiatives

The e-platform encompasses over eight environmental programs and initiatives, including the Sustainable Schools Initiative (SSI), Sustainable Campus Initiative (SCI), and ‘Sahim’ Citizen Science Programme, targeting youth, school students, and the community.

Collective Capabilities: Action

Dr. Al Dhaheri emphasized that the alliance with du amplifies their capabilities to leverage digital technologies for heightened environmental awareness, lifestyle changes, and actionable measures.

Toward a Sustainable Future

Naha establishes a coordinated effort among stakeholders to address pressing environmental issues, notably climate change, aligning with the UAE’s role as the host of COP28 this year.
