On Tuesday, residents in the UAE felt tremors as a third earthquake struck Iran. The UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported that residents in the northern regions of the UAE slightly felt the tremors, but the earthquake had no significant effect on the country.
Minor Tremors in the UAE: Iran
The NCM noted that a 5.6-magnitude earthquake was recorded in the south of Iran at 12:22 pm (UAE time). This marked the third earthquake detected by the authority’s seismic network on that day.
Three Earthquakes Detected: Iran
Two earlier earthquakes, measuring 6.0 and 5.5 on the Richter scale, had rattled Iran at 9:10 am and 8:59 am, respectively. While these quakes were felt by UAE residents, they did not cause any impact on the country.
UAE’s Resilience to Seismic Activity: Iran
Although the UAE experiences two to three tremors every year, they are typically barely noticeable to residents as the country is not located in an active seismic belt. Consequently, these earthquakes do not affect the UAE’s buildings or infrastructure.
