To receive the award, parks must meet several criteria
Twenty parks in Abu Dhabi have won the International Green Flag, the international standard for excellence in the management of open and recreational spaces in the UK and around the world.
The Green Flag is an international award designed to guide and encourage park management processes to meet applicable standards that take into account the high quality of service to community members. It is also an indicator of alignment with efforts to protect and manage a green environment.
To receive a green flag, a park must meet a number of criteria, including: it must be a welcoming place for visitors, a safe and healthy park, cleaning and maintenance of facilities, sustainability, conservation of nature and heritage, community engagement, marketing and good governance.
The following Abu Dhabi parks received the Green Flag Award: Al Bateen Beach Park, Abu Dhabi Corniche Beach Parks, Delma Park, Khalifa Park 1, Khalifa Park 2, Khalifa Park 3, Al Rahba Park, Al Bahia Park, Shahama Park, Rabdan Park , Al Buhaira Park, Heritage Park, Al Khatim Park, Al Shamkha Park 4, Al Shamkha Park 5, Al Shamkha Park 6, Al Shamkha Park 7, Al Jazeera Park, Mohammed bin Zayed Park 1, Mohammed bin Zayed Urban Complex.
The municipality confirmed that this achievement was the result of the efforts of all working teams to improve recreational facilities, parks and public gardens, making the city eligible for the highest international mark.
Obtaining a Green Flag is important, especially in identifying best practices that should be implemented in parks and green space management. It also promotes tourism in Abu Dhabi Parks as a key destination for tourists who wish to visit and spend time in appropriate and safe facilities, while encouraging the expansion of green spaces.
