Ras Al Khaimah authorities have started installing smart gates on major roads across the emirate, it was announced on Sunday. Gates powered by artificial intelligence are linked to police operations rooms.
Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police, said 20 smart gates will be installed in key areas. Smart cameras will monitor traffic and detect collisions, while overhead screens will alert motorists of weather conditions or accidents ahead. The gates will help police respond to accidents and emergencies more quickly.
These are part of the second phase of Ras Al Khaimah’s Safe City Project. This phase includes integrating the gates with a network of 10,000 smart cameras monitoring Ras Al Khaimah. The first phase is to deploy and strengthen “smart security and traffic control systems” in various key areas of the emirate. The overall goal of the project is to activate AI-driven security systems.
