Some 822 minor traffic accidents were reported in Sharjah during the recent Eid al-Adha holiday, according to Rafeid Automotive Solutions in the Emirate of Sharjah.

Of these, 711 accidents were recorded through the city road patrol and 93 accidents were recorded through the Rafed app. The remaining 18 incidents were recorded against unknown parties.

Salem Al Midfa, chief executive of Rafid Automotive Solutions, said the number of minor accidents varied during Eid al-Fitr, with the highest number occurring on June 27.

He said the incidents were caused by a combination of factors, including a lack of focus; using mobile phones while driving; not leaving enough distance between vehicles; and failing to follow mandatory routes to avoid congestion.

During the long weekend, Patrol Operations has safety plans in place to assist motorists and keep traffic flowing.

The average maximum response time for incidents that occurred during Eid was approximately 10 minutes.
