UAE Aid Campaign Unites Generations to Support Gaza as Israel Foresees Prolonged Conflict with Hamas

Gaza In a remarkable demonstration of solidarity, over 5,000 volunteers from the UAE joined forces to assemble 20,000 relief packages as part of the ‘Tarahum for Gaza’ campaign.

Multi-Agency Collaboration for Humanitarian Aid

This initiative, supervised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in cooperation with key organizations like the Emirates Red Crescent, the World Food Programme, the Ministry of Community Development, Dubai Cares, and 20 other humanitarian institutions, successfully collected 450 tonnes of crucial relief supplies for the Palestinians affected by the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Diverse Age Groups Contribute

Volunteers from various age groups, including young children, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities, actively participated in this humanitarian endeavor.

Multiple Locations for Relief Package Assembly

The relief packages were meticulously prepared at designated locations, including the Festival Arena in Dubai, Al Bayt Mitwahid Centre in Sharjah, and the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

Community Engagement During School Holidays

Over the weekend and during a school holiday break, hundreds of UAE families, comprising both nationals and expatriates, along with their children, joined together at the Festival Arena in Dubai Festival City to contribute to this noble cause.

Continued UAE Support for Gaza

This initiative is an integral part of the UAE’s ongoing commitment to assisting the Palestinian people affected by the conflict. As the situation in Gaza remains critical, with Israel intensifying its attacks, the need for humanitarian aid is more pressing than ever.

Unmet Needs and Challenges

While the people in Gaza particularly children, urgently require food and medical supplies, the delivery of aid faces obstacles due to border restrictions and other challenges encountered by humanitarian agencies.

Comprehensive Relief Efforts

Abdulla Ahmed Alshehhi, the Chief Operating Officer of Dubai Cares, described the comprehensive effort, with volunteers organizing separate baskets for food, infants, and women. Volunteers from diverse backgrounds, including children, the elderly, and individuals with varying abilities, played a crucial role in this campaign.

Focus on Immediate Nutritional Needs

Mageed Yahia, the Director for the GCC region at the World Food Programme in Dubai, stressed the importance of providing easily consumable food items, considering the challenging conditions in Gaza, where access to fuel and cooking facilities is often limited.
