All educational institutions in the UAE have been instructed to step up their efforts to enhance students’ national identity, Emirati culture, positive values ​​and Arabic language.

From early education to higher education, students at all levels of government and the private sector must be integrated into national education curricula, programs and teaching methods.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Chair of the Education and Human Resources Committee, issued the directive on Saturday, August 13.

Addressing a virtual meeting of the Education and Human Resources Committee, Sheikh Abdullah also confirmed that the protection and promotion of national identity, Emirati culture and the Arabic language are among the most important priorities of the UAE leadership.

During the meeting, Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth, reviewed the national framework for Emirati cultural activities in schools, which includes several school policies to integrate Emirati cultural activities into the academic curriculum.

The framework aims to develop students’ Emirati national identity, cultural values ​​and positive characteristics through a series of activities, competitions, activities, school trips and workshops, which students will participate in during or after school hours in coordination with the authorities.

Sheikh Abdullah said the UAE’s national history is full of achievements, experiences and success stories that can enrich students’ knowledge and provide them with moral lessons, positive values, skills and wisdom. These courses will help students make decisions that will make them future leaders and effective contributors to Emirati society.

He pointed out the importance of benefiting from the experience and expertise of national eminent personalities who understand the history of the UAE.

Sheikh Abdullah also highlighted the role members of society, educators and media professionals play in combating attempts to undermine family entities and promote practices unfamiliar with the UAE.
