UAE Ambassador to France Hender Otaiba Tribute to the victims Toulouse and Montauban The shootings on the tenth anniversary of the Holocaust.
The diplomat visited a memorial site at the Jewish Ozaha Torah School on Thursday to mark the occasion and pay tribute.
The Toulouse and Montauban shootings were carried out by Mohamed Mela in March 2012 in the southern Pyrenees region of France.
Mela targeted French Army soldiers as well as children and teachers at a Jewish school, killing seven and wounding five.
Jonathan Sandler and his two sons, Gabriel, 3, and Ali, 6, were the victims.
“I went to the Ozar Hatorah Jewish School on purpose to pay my respects to the victims of the 2012 terrorist attack,” Ms Al Otaiba said in a post on social media.
“Savage has no place; we must continue to build and unite a world of tolerance and respect.”
The mother of one of the victims, Latifa Ibn Ziaten, visited her son’s killer’s hometown to learn about the violent path the man took.
Her experience led her to set up a foundation aimed at preventing young French Muslims from turning to extremism.
As a result, last year Ms Ibn Ziaten won Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity.
