UAE and Egypt A major event will be held in Cairo next week to commemorate 50 years of friendship between neighbours in the Middle East.
The three-day celebration will take place from 26 to 28 October under the slogan “Egypt and UAE – One heart’.
More than 1,800 Emirati and Egyptian leaders from sectors including business, media and creative industries will include ministers and officials from both countries.
Mohammed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, said the late Sheikh Zayed, the founding father of the UAE, had laid a solid foundation for a long-term relationship.
“The historical relationship between the UAE and Egypt represents an outstanding example of bilateral relations between Arab countries based on integration and common interests,” said Mr Al Gergawi.
“These strong ties are not limited to diplomacy and leadership, but include the people of both countries.”
“The Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed forged strong bonds of brotherhood and friendship with Egypt. Today, with the help of President Sheikh Mohammed and President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, brothers Bilateral relations between countries have become stronger and prosperous in all areas.”
The event’s agenda will include an economic forum attended by ministers, businessmen and economists from both countries.
It will center on the strong economic ties between the UAE and Egypt.
A cultural forum on the second day of the gathering will highlight the deep connections between media, art, history and sports.
The UAE more than doubled its investment in Egypt in the first half of the 2021-22 financial year, announced in August, following a series of government-backed initiatives and attempts by private companies.
The value of UAE investments in Egypt, the third-largest economy in the Arab world, rose to US$1.9 billion in the first six months of the fiscal year, an increase of about 169 percent from US$712.6 million in the same period a year earlier, according to a report from Egypt’s central agency, the Public Mobilization and Statistics Authority. the report said statement on its website.
In the first quarter of 2022, trade between the two countries rose 1.4 percent year-on-year to $1.2 billion, the government agency said.
President Sheikh Mohammed visited Egypt in August for high-level talks with President Sisi.
The two discussed bilateral cooperation and the many opportunities to develop and strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries United Arab Emirates and Egypt, especially in the field of economy and development.
During the tour, Sheikh Mohammed and Mr. Elsesi Inspected the Regal Heights Hotel, an investment project in Alamein.
King Hamad of Bahrain, King Abdullah II of Jordanand Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Kadimialso attended the scene with the President.
The leaders listened to the introduction of the five-star hotel, and watched the fireworks display and skydiving show.
The UAE and Egypt are also close allies in the global fight against climate change.
The 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference, known as Cop27, will be held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt in November, and the UAE will be in 2023.
