While the holiday falls on a Sunday – meaning many people won’t be working – those who still observe the old work week will get paid time off.
In 2023, the next public holiday after New Year’s Day will be Eid al-Fitr in April, the holiday marking the end of Ramadan. This is followed by Arafat, the second day of the week-long Hajj pilgrimage, scheduled for June, followed by Eid al-Fitr, scheduled for the last weekend of June.
The next public holiday will be on 21 July to celebrate the Islamic New Year, followed by the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday on 29 September.
December 2-3 is the UAE’s 52nd National Day.
