The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has relaxed visa norms to attract more people from all over the world. Rules have also changed to allow citizens of other countries to own freely held homes and property. In addition, long-term visas have also been introduced.
While the UAE has become foreigner-friendly with golden visas, green visas and entry permits, it has also introduced job localization and new taxes for foreigners. Still, the tax rate is lower than in other countries. Value Added Tax (VAT) is in place and plans are now to tax the profits earned by businesses.
Tourist VISA
Previously, visitors on tourist visas could only enter the UAE once and stay for no more than three months. However, the new tourist visa is valid for five years, during which time tourists can travel back and forth between the UAE and their country multiple times.
After entering the UAE once, tourist visa holders can stay there for 90 days, and the validity period can be extended for a further 90 days – a total stay of 180 days.
However, to obtain a multiple-entry tourist visa, the tourist should have a minimum bank balance equal to Rs 320,000 within six months. This amount can be in US dollars, dirhams or other currencies.
Temporary work visa
This visa is granted to those travelling to the UAE for temporary work, short-term professional assignments and project work. For this purpose, a work contract or a letter from the employer should be presented.
Temporary work visas are also issued for study, training and internships. Public and private educational institutions can sponsor this visa. However, they should mention study time.

Another visa that has attracted a lot of attention is the Golden Visa, which is valid for 10 years. This visa offers top professionals and investors the opportunity to stay in the UAE for a long time. Golden visas are available to those with AED 2 million (Rs 4.32 crore) real estate investments.
The visa is also issued to owners of startups registered in the UAE with an annual revenue of AED 1 million (Rs 2.1 crore).
In addition, scientists with degrees in biology, technology or engineering research from top universities in the world can also obtain golden visas.
Likewise, prominent individuals in the arts, culture, digital technology, sports, research, medicine and law are eligible for the Golden Visa.
Another category allocated for visas are professional workers, who are graduates holding a work contract and a salary of at least Dh30,000.
Students and nurses with high scores in UAE secondary and university exams will also be granted golden visas.
family visa
The UAE has also extended the validity of visas issued to youths under the age of 18 who are sponsored by their parents. Boys can now hold visas until the age of 25. Children of different ages will also get age relaxation. Meanwhile, unmarried girls can continue to be sponsored by their parents for as long as possible.
working visa
Thereafter, the visa will be provided without a sponsor. Those with a degree or equivalent qualification can directly obtain a work visa. In fact, students from top universities in the world can obtain visas immediately upon graduation.
green visa
A five-year green visa is issued to enable holders to bring their family members to the UAE without sponsorship. Graduate professional workers, entrepreneurs and freelancers can obtain green visas if the minimum wage is AED 15,000.

Investors and entrepreneurs starting new businesses in the UAE are eligible. Business people who open an office for an existing business in the UAE can also get a visa.
