Businesses found to be ignoring hygiene and safety standards

Authorities in Sharjah have hit 3,000 laundromats across the emirate for failing to comply with health and safety standards mandated by the city.
Ruqayya Ibrahim, Head of Sanitation Control, informed that the city of Sharjah conducts regular inspections of laundromats.
Take administrative and legal action against businesses found not to meet required health standards.
According to her, there are 15 key health and safety conditions that laundromats must adhere to – having laundry and drying equipment, paying attention to cleaning and maintenance, ensuring floors are properly sanitized, providing containers (for clothing), providing storage racks, providing Bags and plastic coverings, keep the facility hygienic, ensure tools and equipment are clean, and ensure regular pest control. Workers must also wear appropriate uniforms, stores should have first aid kits, proper lighting and ventilation, walls, floors and ceilings should be properly maintained, and health cards are provided to all employees.
