Geelong: United Arab Emirates won their first match at the Twenty20 World Cup on Thursday, beating Namibia by seven points and sending the Netherlands to the Super 12 stage.
If the Africans win, they will join Sri Lanka in the next round, not the Dutch, but despite this, the UAE limited them to 141-8 as they won by 149.
Zahoor Khan and Basil Hameed took two wickets each as UAE cut Namibia to 69-7 in the 13th, before David Weise’s late fireworks (55 of 36 balls) A tense finale is established.
