UAE condemns Israeli Minister’s incursion into Al Aqsa Mosque

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expressed its strong condemnation of the recent incident involving the storming of Al Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir. Notably, Ben-Gvir is known for his previous racist positions and statements, which adds further concern to the situation.

In response to this alarming development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the UAE has issued a statement reiterating the country’s unwavering stance on the imperative to ensure the full protection of Al Aqsa Mosque.

The UAE emphasizes the importance of respecting the custodial role of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan over the holy sites in accordance with international law and the historical context surrounding these sites.

Additionally, the UAE underscores the significance of preserving the authority of the Jerusalem Endowment Administration, which is responsible for managing the affairs of Al Aqsa Mosque.

The UAE has called upon the Israeli authorities to immediately halt any further escalation that may exacerbate tension and instability in the region. It is crucial to avoid actions that compromise the sanctity of Al Aqsa Mosque and violate resolutions on international legitimacy, as such actions can have far-reaching consequences for regional peace and security.

Furthermore, the UAE reiterates its commitment to supporting all regional and international efforts aimed at advancing the peace process in the Middle East. The UAE firmly advocates for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem serving as its capital.

This two-state solution remains the path towards a just and lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

By taking this principled stance and urging for restraint and respect for international law, the UAE seeks to play a constructive role in promoting peace and stability in the region.

The country believes that a negotiated and peaceful settlement is the only viable way forward, and it stands ready to support any initiatives that can lead to a peaceful resolution of the longstanding conflict.
