United Arab Emirates (UAE) COP28 President-elect Sultan Jaber ended a two-day visit to the French capital Paris on Saturday, where he met President Emmanuel Macron, the official WAM news agency reported.

Jaber, Appointed in Dubai earlier this year as president-designate of COP28, the United Nations climate change conference, he “emphasized the need for ambitious reforms of international financial institutions and multilateral development banks” during his visit.
The UAE’s climate change envoy and chief executive of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) also said he wanted to work with Macron at the summit on a new global financial pact scheduled for June in Paris.
“This will be an important milestone before COP28… We need to define clearly how the political momentum generated in June will lead to real action at COP28,” he was quoted as saying by WAM.
“This includes an emphasis on mobilizing private finance, expanding concessional finance and advancing carbon markets,” he continued.
During his visit to France, Al-Jaber also met Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA); Laurent Fabius, former French Prime Minister and President of COP21; Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire; and Minister of Energy Agnès Pannier-Runacher.
The visit to France was part of what al-Jaber called a listening tour, traveling to different countries around the globe to engage in dialogue with leaders about their climate policies and ideas to help reduce the impact of climate change.
