A young man who was fined Dh6,000 for using his friend’s car on Al Ain Highway has his road violations transferred to his traffic file.
Official court documents say the Arab man in his 20s rode in his friend’s car for several days without his friend’s knowledge or consent.
The plaintiff said he tried to speak to the man on the phone to ask him to return the car, but he refused.
The police subsequently arrested him on charges of drug abuse, and he was convicted and punished by the Criminal Court after being convicted.
The plaintiff said he found out that he had repeatedly violated traffic rules when his friend was using his car and was fined up to Dh6,000.
He then filed a lawsuit against him seeking the transfer of traffic fines to the defendant who was driving the car at the time of the accident.
The plaintiff also submitted documents such as a copy of the vehicle registration certificate, a copy of the traffic fine record on the vehicle and a copy of the criminal ruling to the court in support of its claim.
Although the defendant was summoned by the court, he did not attend the hearing.
After investigating the case and based on the evidence presented, the Al Ain Court of First Instance directed that the traffic fines registered against the plaintiff’s car be transferred to the defendant’s traffic file.
The Arab man was also told to pay his friend’s legal costs.
