The 3.8km walk coincides with the Dubai Fitness Challenge, which encourages residents to increase their daily physical activity. The event will also feature a number of activities for the whole family, including a bungee run, obstacle course, giant jamboree, Bollywood and Zumba, and live music.
This year, Dubai Health Authority will also provide free blood sugar testing, BMI testing and health and nutrition counselling for all park attendees. All proceeds from this charity event will be donated to the Al Jalila Foundation, a UAE-based non-profit organisation led by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness established.
In addition, every 10,000 steps that participants complete through the STEPPI app will unlock AED 10 to donate to the Beat Diabetes Fund, funded by the Al Jalila Foundation, to treat patients suffering from diabetic complications. Landmark Group has also committed to funding the cause of AED 1 million annually for the next five years.
Participants are encouraged to dress in blue to represent the cause; they can win prizes for the most stylish walkers. People can join the walk by registering on the BeatDiabetes website.
