On Friday, visiting United Arab Emirates Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ahmed bin Ali Sayeq called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
During the meeting in Ganabhaban, the state minister asked Bangladesh for more cooperation to expand air links between Bangladesh and the UAE, according to a press release from the PMO Information Department.
He also expressed the UAE’s interest in strengthening cooperation with Bangladesh on mangrove initiatives, reforestation, renewable energy, floating solar, food processing, agriculture and investment alliances.
Ahmed thanked Sheikh Hasina’s government for the hospitality extended to his delegation during the IORA ministerial meeting in Dhaka on November 23-24, 2022, UNB reported.
He expressed his satisfaction that Bangladesh, as the current chair of IORA, had arranged a very productive IORA meeting.
The UAE Minister of State emphasized that under Bangladesh’s leadership, IORA will be more integrated and effective.
He mentioned that the UAE will host COP 28 next year and asked Bangladesh to participate.
Ahmed also appreciated Sheikh Hasina’s government’s emphasis on agriculture and poverty alleviation.
The Prime Minister appreciated the excellent arrangements made by the UAE during Expo 2020 Dubai.
She said Bangladesh-UAE bilateral relations will be further strengthened in the coming days.
