She added: “For Emirati youth to form such a company, they have to invest a lot of time and money, which can affect the lives of their families because the cost of living in the UAE is very high.”
The entrepreneur said the one-year sabbatical gives young people plenty of time to create a business model and prototype, execute it and find investors.
“This decision is a strong one from an innovation and economic point of view. We may be a small country geographically. However, because of our futuristic approach, we are one of the most developed countries,” she said.
Alanoud also said she wished she had the same opportunity to develop her own business while working in government. “One of my businesses had to close because I couldn’t put in enough time at work. It’s a great program that people with great ideas have to do,” she said.
