On Saturday afternoon, two Pakistani nationals arrived safely in Abu Dhabi after being evacuated from Sudan, as the UAE government continued to provide assistance for evacuees from other countries.

“A plane carrying two Pakistani nationals and other nationals evacuated from Sudan arrived safely in Abu Dhabi this afternoon. The evacuation was done with the support of the UAE,” said Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s ambassador to the UAE.

The ambassador received Pakistani nationals at Abu Dhabi airport on Saturday.

A flight carrying 128 people, including Emiratis and other nationalities, landed in Abu Dhabi on Saturday. The group arrived in Abu Dhabi on a chartered flight from Port Sudan to Abu Dhabi.

The UAE has been involved in the evacuation of Emirati and other nationals from war-torn Sudan on humanitarian grounds.

Earlier, the UAE also evacuated its own citizens and people from some other countries. During the evacuation to the city of Port Sudan, the UAE also hosted and cared for people from 19 different nationalities in preparation for the evacuation.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said it was providing assistance and protection to civilians and providing assistance to countries in need. In response, the UAE listed the sick, children, the elderly and women as the most vulnerable groups during the evacuation process.

Japan also thanked the UAE this week for helping to evacuate its citizens from Sudan.

“The safe evacuation of every Pakistani from Sudan to Pakistan remains the top priority of the Pakistani government. We thank the UAE for the evacuation of two of our nationals. Our Pakistani delegation in the UAE extends our full support to the Pakistanis who arrived this afternoon,” Tirmizi said.
