The Abu Dhabi Family and Civil Administrative Claims Court has directed a man to pay a driver Dh7,800 in damages after his son damaged the victim’s car.

The driver filed a lawsuit seeking compensation from the defendant’s father for damages caused by his son after the crash, court documents said. He asked for Dh17,400.

The victim showed photos of the damaged car, quotations and pricing for repairs, and a copy of the sentence in which the defendant’s son was charged with causing the crash.

The judge then asked an automotive expert to assess the damage and provide a repair quote. Experts say the damage caused is worth Dhs7,800.

The court was satisfied with the report and ordered the defendant to pay the plaintiff Dh7,800 on behalf of his underage son.

He was also told to pay the plaintiff’s legal costs.
