At this week’s Big Ticket Live Show in Abu Dhabi, first-time entrant Sam Heidaritorshizi took home the grand prize, taking home a whopping AED15 million in prize money.
A Dubai resident, the Turkish national moved to the UAE four years ago and is currently the managing director of a pharmaceutical company. Sam bought his first big ticket online during the first week of February, taking advantage of the buy two get one free promotion.
When a Big Ticket representative first tried to contact Sam to tell him about his jackpot, his phone was busy thanks to a flood of calls he received from close friends who didn’t hesitate to reach out to him. Congratulations. Overjoyed, Sam said that despite checking the Big Ticket website over the past week hoping to see his name, he never imagined he would be the winner: “Thank you, Big Ticket! You changed my life!”
The evening’s second prize winner, UAE national Salim Albastaki, won AED 1 million. The first-time winner, who has been buying tickets for the past 15 years, said he first heard about Big Ticket through an ad and was curious to try his luck. Expressing his gratitude for his win, Salim said he will continue to buy big tickets, hoping that one day he will be lucky enough to take home the grand prize.
