Abu Dhabi [UAE]13 May (/WAM): His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Chairman of the Education and Human Resources Council, launches the Higher Institute of Technology under the theme (HCT)’s new strategy “We design the future” during a tour of HCT’s Dubai boys’ campus.
HCT’s new strategy is under the leadership of Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Education, Dr Abdulrahman Al-Awar, UAE Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation, as well as HCT Principal, HCT President and CEO Dr Faisal Al Ayyan, and some senior HCT officials.
The strategy seeks to develop a new work roadmap for the applied education model, in line with the vision of the UAE leadership to build a highly skilled, proficient and ready UAE human competitiveness in the future. Build a sustainable economy.
HH Sheikh Abdullah said: “Investing in human development has been one of the fundamental foundations of the UAE’s journey and forward-looking vision for the future since the federation’s inception.”
HH affirmed the UAE leadership’s support for all development plans and initiatives of higher education institutions aimed at improving the quality of educational services in line with international performance and evaluation standards to produce a product capable of meeting the needs of future jobs as well as the requirements of the country’s priority industries and vital sectors.
Sheikh Abdullah was briefed by HCT Principal Dr Faisal Al Ayyan on the ongoing strategic transformation of HCT, who said the new strategy aims to achieve a paradigm shift in the concept of applied education through three core pillars: , Sustainability and Integrity sex.
Dr. Al Ayyan said that the 2023-2028 strategy will focus on “applied education” to achieve a greater focus on educational goals and vocational training programmes, introduce new programs that meet the needs of the labor market, and educate institutions in accordance with international standards for applied education.
Dr. Al Ayyan announced that the new academic year 2023-2024 will enroll in five foundational courses: Health Sciences, Business Administration, Engineering and Science Technology, Computer and Information Science, and Education. “With the launch of the new track, more than 8,000 students are expected to be admitted, an increase of about 31 percent over the previous academic year,” he added.
Sheikh Abdullah was also briefed on the new HCT B Yas campus in Abu Dhabi, which will welcome more than 10,000 students in the new school year.
HH also witnessed the signing ceremony of cooperation agreements with 11 strategic partners of HCT. (/WAM)
