According to Taliban authorities, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reportedly pardoned 12 Afghan nationals and released them from prison before returning to the Afghan capital Kabul.
The Taliban-run state-controlled Bakhtar news agency reported Saturday that Taliban Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar visited prisoners who had recently returned to Kabul.
According to a statement released by his office, Mullah Baradar told them at a meeting that he was happy they were released and promised to provide them with employment opportunities in the country.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar’s recent visit to the UAE resulted in the release of 12 prisoners, the Taliban’s deputy prime minister’s office said on Twitter on Saturday, August 6.
Recently released imprisoned Afghans expressed gratitude to Taliban officials for arranging their release.

A Taliban member was recently released from Guantanamo prison after the group tried to free its members from international prison facilities.
Several other countries have prisons for Taliban prisoners, and UN security services are looking for some of their senior leaders.
