The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) will provide all services online through facial biometric authentication.
The message is made by Cali erawhich quotes senior official and project director Fatima Salem Al Mazroui speaking to the publication earlier this week at the Gitex Global 2022 event.
“Our goal is to process all GDRFA services and transactions through facial biometrics,” said Al Mazroui.
“All GDRFA services, such as applying for residency, visas or any other services, will be accessed and verified through facial biometrics. Dubai residents will not need to use passports or any other documents to authenticate themselves.”
The executive added that while GDRFA is working swiftly to launch it as soon as possible, it is difficult to provide a specific timeline as each service has different procedures for its implementation.
Al Mazroui also confirmed that the bureau has recently launched a new version of its app, unifying its services in one app, enabling residents to contact GDRFA directly for any enquiries.

Al Ansari has become the first exchange company in the UAE to implement a digital know-your-customer (eKYC) journey in partnership with the country’s Ministry of Interior (MOI).
