Thousands of local, regional and international triathletes will gather in the UAE capital next month for the World Triathlon Championships.
The Abu Dhabi Sports Council announced on Sunday the official race route for the Abu Dhabi World Triathlon Championships series hosted by Dammam, with the Yas Marina Circuit chosen as the venue. The medals of the contestants have also been revealed.
The season opener will take place on March 3-4, when the world’s best professional and amateur triathletes will challenge themselves in one of Abu Dhabi’s iconic sporting destinations when the prestigious event Will return to host of the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The event will attract thousands of local, regional and international triathletes and features 15 competition categories including elite men’s and women’s, elite disabled and age groups, juniors and competitions for determined athletes .
The race begins with a swim in the turquoise waters of Yas Marina, surrounded by spectacular mega yachts and luxury yachts, against the stunning backdrop of W Abu Dhabi and the famous motorsport circuit. The swim route is renowned on world triathlon circuits and is one of the most beautiful swims of the season.
Once the swim is complete, triathletes will have the unique opportunity to tackle the same courses that Formula 1 drivers face when they ride around the track. The cycling class is described by race organizers as “a skill level that inspires experienced triathletes looking for a challenge, while also being great for beginners”. The stands will also be open so fans can cheer on their favorite triathletes as they circle the track.
The final leg of the race will be the all-important run to the finish line, with the flat track offering the opportunity to set personal best times in front of thousands of spectators.
World Triathlon Championships Series Abu Dhabi medals revealed
The 2023 Abu Dhabi World Triathlon Championships series medals have also been revealed and will be awarded to all competitors who complete the race. In addition, podium medals will be awarded on stage to the top three finishers in each age category.
Designed in the UAE, at the center of the medal is the “World Triathlon” globe, with three vertex elements representing the nine dynamic balance points common to all triathletes: swim-bike-run, mind-body-soul, earth-air- water. The Earth is surrounded by three rotating orbits, symbolizing how these elements fit together harmoniously.
Mohammed Ahmed Al Rumaithi, Director of International Events at Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said: “We are delighted to announce that the Yas Marina Circuit will once again be the venue for the Abu Dhabi World Triathlon Championship Series.
“While it’s best known for its motorsport events, it’s also a multi-purpose venue that can host a number of different events, and we’ve worked closely with our strategic partners to ensure the races are fun and competitive while offering unique opportunities for participants Challenge yourself in iconic world-class venues.

Event draws big names in triathlon
The World Triathlon Championship Series in Abu Dhabi has attracted some of the biggest names in the triathlon world. In the men’s division, the top 10 triathletes will compete against the world No. 1 Frenchman, led by world champion Leo Bergere.
In the women’s division, world No. 2 Georgia Taylor-Brown will be the No. 1 athlete, along with six other top-10 triathletes in the world, including world No. 3 Taylor-Brown of the United States. Spivey.
