Immigration authorities in the United Arab Emirates have announced a visa ban for Nigerians, adding that all applications submitted will be rejected with non-refundable fees.
It is understood that the announcement was made in a circular to Nigeria’s trading partners, including travel agencies, on Friday.
Although no reason for the ban was given, Dubai authorities announced that all applications were on hold until the issue between the UAE and Nigerian governments was resolved.
The latest decision by UAE immigration authorities is for all Nigerians seeking to travel to the UAE.
“All submitted applications for Dubai are now rejected. This is common for Nigerians and approvals are currently on hold.
“When the two governments resolve the issue, please advise your client to resubmit the C2=A0 application,” the notice to Nigerian travel agencies said.
A source in Wakanow confirmed the story, saying: “It’s true, it was released yesterday. Dubai Immigration did not say when the ban will be lifted, but for now everything is on hold.”
Talking to an Air Peace customer representative, it is understood the airline is still flying to Dubai with those who already hold valid visas. The representative added that any changes to Nigerian flights will be communicated in a timely manner, adding that no issues have been raised at this time.
