UAE keen to adopt latest digital technologies to boost growth

UAE doubles down on digital transformation efforts across all business sectors.

Saqr Binghalib, Executive Director of the UAE Government Office of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, said that the UAE is keen to adopt the latest digital technologies, invest in digital skills, and apply artificial intelligence mechanisms in various fields to ensure a world-leading digital economy.

This came during the first meeting of the AI, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications Office as the UAE government representative of the G20 Digital Economy Working Group, a G20 that includes most of the world’s largest economies, with the UAE participating as guest of honor in India The working group organized by the President of the Republic Lucknow.

The meeting discussed the importance of sharing experiences of G20 countries in strengthening digital transformation and utilizing various digital technologies in all priority areas, as well as best practices for achieving digital infrastructure.

Saqr Binghalib said the UAE government uses modern technology to explore opportunities and find innovative solutions to key challenges. He reiterated that the UAE’s ranking of first regionally and 13th globally in the e-Government Development Index for 2022 is a leap that reflects its efforts to strengthen its digital infrastructure and continue its development process to achieve the best results.

He referred to the country’s experience with the rollout of the Emirates Digital Wallet (EDW), e-Signature and Digital Authentication, and UAE Pass, which have strengthened digital transformation efforts, embraced digitization-based solutions, and provided the community with access to various Secure access to government and private applications, and websites; benefits more than 6,000 services provided by more than 130 federal, local government entities, quasi-government entities, and private businesses.

Binghalib said, “With more than 22,000 participants in the UAE AI Bootcamp and CodersHQ, with more than 400 government employees, policymakers and experts savvy in AI technologies, this is an initiative of the National Coders Program and reflects the leadership’s commitment to empowering digital skills to underpin the perception of the importance of the UAE’s global position as a pioneer in the exploration and use of artificial intelligence.” He explained that the UAE seeks to empower cadres in the field of digitalization, build their skills and talents, and create a digital environment to design intelligent solutions programs and support for the digital economy, pointing to the role of digital schools, one of the Mohammed bin Rashid global initiatives spreading knowledge and education across countries since its launch in 2020.

Binghalib added: “The Digital Schools initiative spans seven countries and educates more than 40,000 students, leveraging the digital experience of more than 1,000 teachers. Other initiatives have had a huge impact globally, such as Million Arab Coders The scheme and the launch of a national qualification body aimed at developing talent qualifications, raising them to international standards, aims to support changing labor market needs and develop a promising generation of capable people to lead the best future of the digital economy.” AI Office showcases goals to be achieved under the framework of ‘UAE Blockchain Strategy 2021’ launched in 2018 and the region’s first ‘UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031’ to strengthen the UAE’s leadership in blockchain Status through the launch of various national programs, namely in the field of artificial intelligence and digital skills; Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence, United Arab Emirates University, Khalifa University, New York University Abu Dhabi and Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi artificial intelligence lab.
