UAE: Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed inaugurates Fatima bint Mubarak Center at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi: Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Office, Inauguration of the Fatima bint Mubarak Center in Abu Dhabi by Mubadala Health Partners Cleveland Clinic.

Fatima bint Mubarak Center provides cutting-edge personalized care throughout each cancer patient’s journey, including sophisticated screening and diagnostic tests, advanced radiation therapy and precise cell therapies. The 19,000-square-meter Oncology Center houses an expert team of 150 world-class nurses, doctors and radiologists who have extensive experience caring for patients facing the most critical and complex cancer challenges.

Modeled after the Cleveland Clinic’s Taussig Cancer Center, one of the top cancer centers in the US, the Fatima bint Mubarak Center in Abu Dhabi brings an integrative and transformative approach to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer-related diseases in the region. Fatima bint Mubarak Center has 32 examination rooms for multidisciplinary cancer consultations, 24 private infusion rooms for intravenous administration, two operating theaters and an area dedicated to women’s oncology services.

The Fatima bint Mubarak Center has 24 clinical departments specializing in a variety of cancers and is led by Dr. Stephen Grobmyer, Director of the Cleveland Clinic’s Oncology Institute in Abu Dhabi. Dr. Grobmyer served as co-director of the Cleveland Clinic’s Comprehensive Breast Cancer Program from 2012 to 2019. He has published more than 195 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 20 book chapters, and given more than 100 lectures.

The Abu Dhabi Oncology Center was named in honor of the key leadership role played by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the National Women’s Federation, Supreme Council for Maternal and Childhood, Supreme Chairman of the Family Development Foundation and State, involved in the UAE’s healthcare industry develop.

Leveraging its strong links with initiatives such as the Emirates Genome Project and the Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Centre, the Fatima bint Mubarak Center provides innovative radiation therapy and precision tumor cell therapies to combat a variety of diseases found in the UAE.

The Cleveland Clinic Foundation has announced that it will name two of its buildings after Sheikha Fatima and will honor an academic chair in her honor for her contributions to global healthcare and the advancement of medicine.
