The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, in partnership with Marihub, has launched the ‘Blue Passport’ transformation project to create a unified database of shipping companies and merchant ships operating in UAE ports and territorial waters.
Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, said: “The Blue Pass project will help enhance the UAE’s maritime reputation… We are eager to strengthen the sustainability of the maritime sector and reward all companies and ships that adopt green practices, so the The project becomes an incentive to build a cleaner maritime sector.”
He noted: “The UAE consistently leads in several indicators of global competitiveness in the maritime sector. It ranks 3rd globally in the Bunker Supply Index, 5th as a major competitive maritime hub, and 5th in the Transport Routes Index. Ranked 12th.
Al Mazrouei added that the partnership complements several initiatives aimed at increasing the maritime sector’s contribution to the UAE’s GDP, which is currently estimated at AED90 billion per year.
Hassan Mohammed Al Mansouri, Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Transport at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, said: “The UAE Blue Pass project will enable our partners to access all maritime services through a unified digital portal and smart applications, enabling ship operators to Being able to work seamlessly with shipping company workers to meet their needs at the touch of a button.”
